Why are People surprised when they see that my iPhone is set to military time? I want to buy all the clothes in Sophnet's Uniform Experiment line. I especially like the ties and silk scarf.

I rather appreciate that this fella made it to where he is with his hair being longer at one side than the other. I'm having the same issue right now. With hair length, not career. I like the gingham details with the stripes, too. Best throw it in for those who notice, and not go all Commes des Garçons Shirt on it.

Today I had the good fortune of shooting Stephin Merritt, of Magnetic Fields fame, for the website of Vanity Fair (my fine employers). He's written the music and lyrics for a stage adaptation of Coraline (read more about it and see the rest of my photos here).

He told me he has two rules when being photographed: "Never playing an instrument; and never against another fucking brick wall." Fair enough, good thing I had a stage-full of pianos to hand then.

Here's a photo I took of Björk dancing. That's her in the middle, the blur in blue. Jeremy Scott is behind her, and the excellent Ólöf Arnalds and her bandmate are playing to the right. There's a mean cheese plate on the table too. This was downstairs at the Housing Works bookstore in SoHo, after Björk performed with Dirty Projectors to raise money for New Yorkers living with AIDs. Read about it here.

Thanks to Stuart and the good people at Housing Works for an excellent evening.

nyt.jpgBut hey, come on now, Kindles can't get wet either.

Just look at it. It was really foggy in Edinburgh. Anyway, the old on-then-off site of 2003-2007 had to have its volume turned down and amplifier unplugged. So now there's just this one. Hope it satisfies.
